  1. I found this to be a very interesting article, its always interesting when one can find a segment of the industry that is using trends to make a solid profit, especially in these tough times. Frozen Yogurt is the newest, hottest thing, again. The whole frozen yogurt movement started in the 1980's when people started going health crazy and counting calories. People got bored very easily with the same flavors everywhere and the industry took a quick downfall. Now there are several companies that are making frozen yogurt interesting and nutritious.
All these operations are making a quick comeback by not only serving great yogurt, which they now serve with granola, nuts and even chocolate, but by providing a great sit down atmosphere and in the future have wi-fi and plasma tv's all designed to lure all types of people. The owners of these companies realize that even on tough times people will indulge no matter what so you provide them with something affordable and nutritious and top it with great service and location and you got yourself a solid growing business.
I found this article very informative and inspiring especially with restaurants trying to keep down food costs and appeal to a healthy crowd it seems like frozen yogurt is a great alternative, the only challenge is to make it interesting, make it good so people comeback for more and probably do so more often since they realize that this may not be too bad for them.

  2. I agree, this article was very inspiring. It goes to show that even during difficult times, there is still hope. Creativity is key to success, one always has to be on top of the latest trends. Health is an important issue, and frozen yogurt gives people the feel of indulgence. Consumers are always on the hunt for the hottest "new" trends. These frozen yogurt shops are making it a repeat trend. They took an old trend and adapted to meet today's needs. With exotic flavors, reasonable prices, and pleasant atmosphere, frozen yogurt is quickly becoming a comforting indulgence during this economic downfall.

  3. Frozen yogurt making a come back? Must say that this is the first I heard of this trend, but it does seem to be something that can be catchy. In this tough economic climate it takes a new idea, or a recreation of an old one to stand out. With the Frozen yogurt, people might have just found it. From entrepreneurs to investors, to chefs at restaurants, it seems like this idea is catching on, and even more impressive, profitable.
One of the reasons that it looks like this is catching on is the purveyors have spiced up the frozen yogurt. With flavors like green tea, pomegranate, dolce de leche, people are excited to try this. Its new flavors that people have not seen prepared like this before. Compared to the vanilla and chocolate flavored ice cream, these new flavors are exciting and different and that’s what attracts the crowd. Similar to the resurgence of cupcakes last year, people want a sweet snack. Frozen yogurt is a great fit because not only does it taste good but people perceive it to be healthy. With the country focusing on healthy, this sweet and savory treat fits right in, If Masako Kawashima can make her frozen yogurt 100% organic and not use any sugar, there is no reason upscale restaurants can’t do the same.
I see this trend as something that could possibly take off; it’s a good idea and fits the health craze that’s going on right now. Although I have not seen this around our area, with the right marketing and good product, frozen yogurt could move right in and be the next sorbet.

  4. I found this article interesting and could see the amount of time put into this effort before they made this a popular trend again. With everyone wanting to eat healthier today, it was the perfect time to bring this dish back. Also, by making the locations accompanied with flat screen TV's and wireless internet,it will help bring in all types of ages. I found it interesting when they talked about how they said they wanted to do what Starbucks did by charging a premium and adding quality and service. Quality and service is the key to today's businesses being successful and will determine where guests will go. Also, it helps that they are expanding from the basic flavors and trying out new ones that definitely will grab people's interest.
